At Avancée, we believe in teaching real language to real people.
Each of our events has a theme, based on seasons, current events, local news… Avancée teachers work together to prepare and come up with relevant games, vocabulary and activities related to that theme, with one aim: getting the participants to chat and use the language they know.
If you’re shy and need a safe and friendly place to practise your French without pressure, our events are great. They’re just fun and relaxed.
If you’re confident and love a chat, you’re also more than welcome! You’ll always leave having learnt something new.
If you’re a complete beginner – and by that we mean that every single word & sentence needs to be translated for you – then we recommend joining a course before joining one of our events. They’re not meant to be lessons but practice sessions. With a bit of work, it won’t take you long to get the basics and you’ll soon be joining and making the most of our socials.
Venues vary but we usually meet in Samoëns. Past venues have included Big Bear, the Kern, Place 2 Be, L’Accordéon, l’Entre 2 Lacs… Depending on moods and weather conditions! Follow us on Insta or Facebook for updates or contact Jenny.
Finally, we ask for a small contribution to take part because our event are organised and run by experienced language teachers. There are usually 2 present at an event, to help both learners of French & English.
